BabyVit is Vitamin D in the Colecalciferol form. The Colecalciferol form is sometimes referred to as the D3 form and is considered to be the most potent form of Vitamin D available.Vitamin D, sometimes referred to as the sunshine Vitamin because it is manufactured in the skin by sunlight, is essential in laying down the calcium in bone formation and is crucial in the healthy development of the skeletal system. Vitamin D is also important in other important metabolic functions in the body.
As Ireland is located in Latitude 51o to 55o North, little or no Vitamin D is produced from sunlight during the winter months, and infants should not be exposed to sunlight.

It is now recommended by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland that all young babies from birth to 12 months of age be given 200IU (5ug) of Vitamin D per day preferably in the D3 form. 
This is the form of Vitamin D that is in BabyVitD3 and just 2 drops will give 200IU.
